IS Director

In this position you will direct and manage all functions of the Spectra West Information Services Department. You will manage multiple laboratory, billing and client software development groups, as well as Telecommunication and Data Center personnel, including systems analysis, application design, project management, implementation and maintenance. You will analyze business needs and recommend applications, hardware, software or enhancements required to meet short-term goals and strategic objectives, review new technology to determine applicability/cost effectiveness, recommend changes to existing systems and procedures and implement recommendations. You will be responsible for developing an annual budget and manage costs to meet budget objectives.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS  

Minimum 3 years of senior management experience in I.S. 5-7 years experience of direct operational duties and supervisory responsibilities. Extensive knowledge in programming, systems development and design of multiple applications required. Must have experience in UNIX, and Windows operating systems as well as computer networking architectures. Demonstrated project management and control skills required. Familiarity with the clinical laboratory and/or healthcare industry environment would be preferred but not mandatory

Laboratory Department Supervisor 

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS 

Six of experience in high complexity testing.  Excellent communication skills and prior senior level management experience preferred.  Experience in the management of Quality Control and Quality improvement in a clinical laboratory environment.  Understanding of statistical quality tools and concepts.  Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and computer programs.  ASCP preferred.  Must be able to lift 20 lbs., and sit/stand for extended periods of time in a laboratory environment.  

EDUCATION  
Bachelor's degree in Science or Medical Technology.  Advanced degree or MBA a plus.  California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.   

Clinical Support Representative
Nephrology Nurse Specialist - Registered Nurse  
Clinical Education Specialist - Registered Dietitian  

Reports to Director of Clinical Support

Provide routine on-site support for existing accounts.  Visit all existing accounts in assigned region as necessary to ensure client satisfaction, maintain rapport, compliance to procedures and perform computer training.  Participate in the development of clinical education for clients and internal employees. Travel to customer sites to provide on-site inservice and training on Spectra Laboratory services as well as resolving customer needs. Responsible for maintaining customer accounts through on-site and telephone contact, dissemination of information to the proper personnel, and ensuring follow through to achieve customer satisfaction.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES
  •  Provide technical support to new and existing accounts and communicate the necessary and accurate account information to all appropriate departments to resolve and meet the client needs.  
  •  Provide in-service training for new accounts.  Responsible for ensuring client understanding of Spectra procedures and recommendations.  Work closely with Sales Managers and New Accounts representatives to obtain required information prior to start-up.
  •  Participate in the development of clinical education to clients and internal Spectra employees.
  •  Develop and/or participate in educational programs for clients and Spectra employees.
  •  Provide routine on-site support for existing accounts.  Visit all existing accounts in assigned territory as necessary to ensure client satisfaction, maintain rapport and compliance with recommended procedures. Complete and disseminate appropriate information for each account after every visit via Visit Forms and Call Logs.
  • Respond to all client inquiries in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Ability to: work independently and manage time; prioritize and contact clients via phone and/or on-site visits; provide troubleshooting and follow-up for accounts in assigned territory.
  • Assist in other territories as assigned.
  • Monitor, and report to the Director of Clinical Support, the perceived quality of Spectra services as interpreted by the clients.  Provide suggestions for resolution and/or improvement.
  • Develop, participate in, and/or implement educational programs.
  • Provide educational in-services and/or follow-up training to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Act as a liaison between Spectra, Spectra clients, and potential clients.
  • Responsible for working within an allocated budget, completing and submitting proper expense reports in a timely fashion and managing business finances.
  •  Provide suggestions and/or improvements to contribute to the department and/or company's efficiency and productivity.
  •  Adhere to the Corporate Compliance Program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 
Nephrology Nurse Specialist  

EDUCATION
Registered Nurse, preferably a Bachelor's degree. Certification (CNN, CHN, CPDN) preferred.  Must receive certification within one year from hire date.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS
Three years of experience in Nephrology.  Both Hemo and Peritoneal Dialysis experience preferred.  Management and/or education experience preferred.

Clinical Education Specialist  


EDUCATION 
Bachelor's degree.  Recognized as a Licensed Registered Dietitian.  

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS
3-5 years clinical experience in nephrology, preferably dialysis, and experience in an education/teaching setting.

Must have excellent communication and training skills and the ability to travel extensively. Good customer service skills and the ability to work
effectively with all levels of people in a clinical environment are essential.  Capable of gaining client confidence and responding to client issues appropriately.  Familiarity with basic computer applications is required.  Strong customer service skills.  Must have the ability to self manage time and travel.  Excellent driving record.  Live within territory region.

Travel overnight an average of three nights per week.  Able to drive up to four hours to client sites.  

Must be able to lift 20 lbs., and sit/stand for extended periods of time.  

   

Collections Specialist I
Reports to Billing and Collections Supervisor  

Responsible for account billing/collections.   

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:  

  • Review accounts receivable aging for collection process, i.e., Medicare, Medicaid/Medi-Cal and self-pay. 

  • Responds to incoming/outgoing correspondence and telephone calls regarding all patient billing information. 

  • Apply Medicare, Medicaid and commercial payments to appropriate accounts  

  • Oversee all managed care issues including communicating with managed care field staff.  

  • Receive and responds to patient billing information, verifying insurance data through letters, telephone calls and faxes.  

  • Oversee all Medicaid/Medi-Cal issues.  

  • Process denials and oversee refunds.  

  • Train Billing personnel as appropriate.  

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

gh school graduate or equivalent. 

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILL
Two years of demonstrated experience in business and accounting practice, preferably in a healthcare setting.

Must have a thorough understanding of business and accounting/collections practice.  Must have the ability to use business machines (i.e., computer. calculator, copier, etc.).  Must have good telephone technique.

Human Resources Specialist
Reports to Human Resources Supervisor  

Performs tasks, requiring knowledge of Human Resources Department procedures and functions and the exercise of discretion and tact in processing documents and information of a confidential or sensitive nature.  This position will provide clerical support to the Human Resources Manager. 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES

  • Provide information to employees, supervisors or other personnel by referring to policies, rules, regulations or procedures or by researching files for information; may refer applicants or inquiries to appropriate sources of information. 

  • Recruiting/sourcing for all laboratory positions.  

  • Route resumes/applications, maintain applicant tracking system.

  • Screen and interview prospective employees.

  • Assists in scheduling of interviews for hiring managers.

  • Process extended offers, conduct reference checks, background checks and performs Office of the Inspector General/Government Services Agency (OIG/GSA) checks.  

  • Conduct orientation of new employees.

  •  Maintain and update employee records using HRIS database.  

  •  Provide statistical charts/reports/graphs using HRIS as required.

  • Approve all temporary service invoices prior to sending to A/P.

  • Maintains employee personnel files and correspondence.

  • Maintain, update and distribute weekly job posting list.

  • Negotiate contracts with employment Agencies to recruit and fill vacancies for temporary positions.

Laboratory Assistant I  
Reports to Department Supervisor
Responsible for assisting in the preparation and set-up of laboratory tests. Entering tests/ billing data into computer system.

 PRINCIPLE DUTIES   

  •  Receive samples, check for damage, and prepare for scanning.

  •  Scan VLW, manual and Proton requisition's blood, other body fluids and  water specimens

  • Manually enter HIV specimens

  • Perform Reconciliation Report (Prelim. & Final)

  • Barcode Specimens

  • Filter, centrifuge and pour specimens  

  • Rack/Archive Specimens

  •  Pull "repour"and Add-on worksheet & pour samples  

  • Batch Royal Blue Tops & create worksheet

  •   Process Stat Test Orders and proficiency samples  Process Sendouts  

  • Set up Colony Count (refer to Micro Procedure)

  •  Login and check-log manual and Proton Requisitions (refer to D/E Proc.)

Network and Desktop Operations Manager
Reports to Director of Information Services

This position is responsible for the timely and quality delivery of system services including network hardware systems, network operating software, messaging, LAN, WAN, desktop services and support, end user services and support, telecommunications services and support, and related quality systems management functions enterprise wide.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES

  • Establish and disseminates unit objective, division of work to supervisors / staff under direct charge.

  • Responsible for the initiation, deliverables and results of all projects and tasks related to technical services, from design, engineering, and development, to integration, implementation, testing, documentation and budgetary constraints.

  • Create and manage project plans and documentation for current and proposed initiatives.

  • Ensure the complete and proactive protection of all corporate data and systems through active backup, system recovery procedures and co-location disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

  • Responsible for vendor evaluation, managing vendor services and negotiating, recommending contract terms and conditions, contract renewals and pricing for service.

  • Inspire excellent service through coaching, leadership on complex issues, inspire group-based decision-making and insure proper recognition of the contributions made by the technical service staff.

  • Accountable for monitoring and enforcement of technical service system standards and data communication standards, including telephony and communications.

  • Participates in the creation of the supported standards from cross-functional IT as well as a network and desktop perspective.

  • Insures complete and accurate issue tracking and reporting is accomplished per Sarbanes Oxley and HIPPA requirements.

  • Assume responsibility for unit staffing decisions (interviewing, hiring, promotion, disciplinary action, and terminations).

  • Responsible for establishing a service request system for all aspects of OPS, and baseline service metrics.  

  • Review and manage metrics, service levels, and procedures to enhance the support system to provide customer service that exceeds customer expectations.

  • Works with managers and employees of other IT sub-departmental areas to ensure smooth and efficient deployments of various initiatives.

  • Assume responsibility for unit budgeting and related decisions (forecasting, managing to annual budget, reporting and managing monthly variances).  

EDUCATION
Bachelor degree in MIS or Computer Science and/or MCSE 2000/2003, CCNP, CCSP and CCA preferred.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS
A minimum of 5 years professional IT operations management, 8-10   years hands-on technical experience providing network services in support of a medium to large multi-location organization.  

  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and problem solving skills with a high degree of integrity and discretion and the ability to multi-task.

  • A strong background in all aspects of customer service and project management, and direct accountability for management of I/S staff directly supporting client applications and technologies.

  • Current technical expertise in the development and implementation of local and wide area network systems, desktop operations, and related communications infrastructure.

  • Strong TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS, SMTP, FTP, V-LAN, Cisco Pix or Checkpoint, Cisco Switches & Routers, VPN and SNMP knowledge.

  • Knowledge of network and internet security, network intrusion prevention, vulnerability testing, authentication and encryption.  

  • Knowledge of web services, web servers, web-based application deployments.

  • Knowledge of Cisco, Citrix Metaframe XP farm management and administration, 2000/ 2003 Active Directory, SAN technology, Cluster software, MS Project, Visio and network / applications / web monitoring solutions.

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies such as RFID, IR, BlueTooth, and other similar wireless as well as implementation of wireless LANs and PDAs in a highly secure enterprise environment is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma is also a plus.

 

Sr. Software QA Technician  
Reports to Director of Information Systems  

Management of Quality Assurance (QA) process, primarily testing of Client Based Applications.  

PRINCIPAL DUTIES  

  •  Management of QA process: develop, maintain and execute changes.

  •  Perform QA testing of client-based applications including Laboratory Information Access (LIA), Remote Order Entry (VLW), and other in-       house applications as needed.

  •  QA software provided to clients.  

  •  Maintain Requirement and Defect Tracking tools (Rational RequisitePro & ClearQuest).

  •  Perform Quality Control on in-house documentation (Requirements, Design, and Functional).

  •  Write and execute test plans, test cases, and test procedures as necessary.  

  •  Interact with developers to improve UI and processing.

  •  Assist developers in designing unit testing procedures.  

  •  Assist in specifying and testing system and application configurations.

  • Create development-related administrative reports and procedures as required.  

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
B.S. in a related field.  Computer Science preferred.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS   

Four-six years of software QA experience, management experience preferred.  
Object Oriented Application Development in C++, Delphi, C#, Java or other OO environment. 
Window NT (2002).
Automated Testing experience, preferably with Rational Robot.  
Defect and enhancement tracking software configuration and use experience preferably Rational ClearQuest.  
Load, Regression, and integration testing experience.

Help Desk Support 
Provides support, training and trouble shooting in the use of computer software and hardware provided by the laboratory.  Systems include but are limited to Proton, LIA, LIA on the Run, Visual Lab Works.  Receives telephone calls from users having problems using computer software and hardware or inquiring how to use the software and hardware provided by Spectra.  Talks to users to learn procedures followed and source of error.  Answers questions, applying knowledge of computer software, hardware and procedures.  Asks the user with problem to participate via telephone in diagnostic procedures.  Determine whether problem is caused by hardware such as modem, printer, cables, or telephone.  Talks to coworkers to research problem and find solution.  Records all problems in the Help Desk System (Remedy) and escalates user problems to the appropriate level of management.  Identifies trends and works with supervisor to take appropriate actions.  Talks to programmers to explain software errors, gain their expertise to correct defects related to software or hardware.  In conjunction with programmers, can call vendors to request service regarding defective products.  May test software and hardware to evaluate ease of use and whether product will aid user in performing work.  May train users on software and hardware off-site at their location.  May install microcomputers, software and peripheral equipment, following procedures.  May assist in the development of training manuals and procedures.  Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS

Minimum 2 years working with PC's, Proficient with Word and Excel software.

In-Service Coordinator/Trainer
As the In-Service Coordinator and Trainer for the Spectra East location, reporting to the Executive Director of Customer Service, you will: consult department managers to determine educational support needs, develop/deliver clinical training programs for non-clinical employees, manage quality initiative projects, develop employee orientation materials, and deliver basic computer training.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS

EDUCATION
A RN, Medical Technologist, or similar degree is preferred, BS is required.
Medical Billing Clerk - Full Time
Major responsibilities include: Building patient care files in the billing system (demographic and insurance information), contacting dialysis facilities on billing matters and making on-line master files.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS
Prior experience with Medicare/Medicaid and Managed Care billing procedures is preferred.  Good customer services and computer (Word, Excel) skills are required.
EDUCATION
HIS or equivalent, some college courses are preferred.
Microbiology Medical Technologist - Part Time
As a Part Time, every other weekend, Microbiology Medial Technologist in our Northern Bergen County facility you will perform identification and sensitivity/MIC using automated method (Vitek) as well as manual Kirby-Bauer methods and testing of blood culture using automated method (BacT/Alert).
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS
Experience within highly automated, high volume reference laboratory.  Knowledge of automated (Vitek, BacT/Alert) as well as manual testing is required.
EDUCATION
BS degree in Medical Technology or related science.  


Business Segment & Compliance Officer

The BSCO is primarily responsible for ensuring continued Compliance with the FMCNA Corporate integrity agreement (CIA) at the Spectra Renal Management (SRM) laboratories. Reporting to the Director of Regulatory Compliance, the Business Segment Compliance Officer serves as a resource to SRM laboratory personnel on healthcare regulatory compliance issues. The Business Segment Compliance officer is primarily the liaison to SRM's corporate Compliance department to ensure timely detection, response, investigation, analysis and, as applicable, corrective action pertaining to any SRM-related compliance matter. In this regard, the BSCO is responsible for the implementation and on going of SRM's policies and procedures to ensure continued compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and deregulation's affecting the business of SRM. The BSCO is also responsible for the provision and tracking of all compliance-training modules. In collaboration with the Director of Regulatory Compliance the BSCO also supports projects related to SRM's self-Monitoring Program, as well as, audits conducted by internal and independent outside audit firms.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS
This position requires a BS degree, preferably in a health-care or business administration related field and 5-7 years experience in healthcare. Medical technology, Laboratory or Billing expertise preferred. Computer experience - Microsoft Word / Excel / Powerpoint.  Multi-tasking, good people skills, organization skills, problem solving skills, project management. Training experience a plus. Risk assessment, monitoring and auditing experience a plus . Experience in healthcare regulatory compliance helpful. Knowledge of clinical laboratory services preferred.

Pricing Medical Billing Specialist
You can use your administrative experience in a healthcare environment (hospital or doctor's office) to maintain and update procedure code files, price schedules and contracts for medical laboratory clients.  The ideal candidate will have 2 years of college and/or 3 years experience in a related healthcare setting, knowledge of CPT codes, medical terminology and medical billing processes, good communication skills and proficiency in Excel, Word and data entry.

Clinical Education Coordinator
(Nephrology RN)
Join our team as a Clinical Education Coordinator and trainer for the Spectra East, northern NJ location.  You will be reporting to the Executive Director of Customer Service.  Some of the responsibilities will include:
Consult department managers to determine educational support needs related to nephrology
Develop/deliver clinical training programs for non-clinical employees 
Manage quality initiative projects
Develop employee orientation materials 
The candidate of choice will be a licensed RN or Medical Technologist with nephrology experience.  BS is preferred.  3-5 years experience in training, patient education and/or program development is preferred.

Accounts Receivable Representative
The main responsibilities of this clerical position will include: handling discrepancies in insurance coverage, processing correction reports, analyzing and posting payments to individual accounts, data entry, researching and resolving credit balances.  Good computer and communication skills, two years of college or prior experience in medical billing, A/R, credit and collection are preferred. 

Customer Service Representative
Liaison between Laboratory and Internal and External Clients to identify and resolve problems and inquires.  Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2 years Customer Service (heavy phone volume) and /or related laboratory experience is required: 4-5 years relevant experience in lieu of education requirements Ability to deal professionally with very high volume and high stress situations - required.  The ability to problem solve in an environment with a number of events occurring - required.  Possess a sound customer relations attitude - required.  Good PC skills - required. 

Managed Care Insurance Specialist
Ideal candidates will have 2 years of college education and/or relevant business experience with Managed Care billing procedures and excellent computer and communication skills.  As an Insurance Specialist you will research insurance rejections, process correction reports, contact facilities on billing matters and make on-line inquiries into master files.
