Employee Resource Groups

Our Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I), Mignon Early, is focused on supporting the advancement of our key DE&I objectives in alignment with our global Inclusion and diversity work so that all of our employees feel safe, welcome, cherished, and celebrated

At Fresenius Medical Care, DE&I is more than campaigns and initiatives — it is a lived experience that must be part of our forever journey. Mignon is supported by our DE&I Council, a diverse group of employees who provide regular input on our continued efforts to build a more trusting and inclusive culture. She also leads our DE&I Advisory Council, composed of employees from various teams and backgrounds who help lead and execute projects supporting our goals.

OUR DE&I JOURNEY CONTINUES

We continue our DE&I journey. Some of our key accomplishments in 2022 include:

  • piloting a new recruiting process to embed DE&I (US);

  • publishing global ERG and DE&I policy;  

  • establishing Health Equity Framework;  

  • earning National Recognition from Newsweek as one of America’s Most Loved Workplaces in 2021 and 2022.

 

 

OUR GLOBAL COMMITMENTS


In 2022, our global CEO made the following DE&I commitments4:

  • The CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion Pledge outlines a specific set of actions the signatory CEOs will take to cultivate a trusting environment where all ideas are welcomed, and employees feel comfortable and empowered to have discussions about diversity and inclusion. View our profile.
  • The Charta der Vielfalt, or German Diversity Charter, is a pledge that supports the objective of advancing the recognition, appreciation, and inclusion of diversity in the workplace in Germany. View our profile.  
  • The United Nations (UN) Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) are a set of seven principles offering guidance to businesses on how to promote gender equity and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace, and community. View our profile.

EMPLOYEE RESOURCE GROUPS

One of the ways we foster a diverse and supportive environment is by providing employees the opportunity to form and join Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). ERGs enable employees with similar interests, goals, social and cultural backgrounds, or experiences to come together for professional and personal development, discussion, activities, and peer support. Our ERGs are open to all and are as beneficial for members as they are for our culture. Our current list of ERGs includes the following:

We encourage participation in ERGs through company communications. Following company guidelines, employees are welcome to join existing groups or expand our offerings by starting groups of their own. 

We had many initiatives in 2022. Here are some highlights:

  • Over 25 ERG leaders took part in the “ERG Is Not Just an Acronym” leadership conference sponsored by The Society for Diversity.

  • The Thriving With ERG hosted an event where members shared how they live with “Invisible Disabilities and Chronic Illnesses.”

  • The LGBTQIA & Allies ERG hosted a visual podcast event on “Bringing Your Authentic Self to Work.”

  • The Organization for Hispanic/LatinX & Allies ERG regularly hosts Language Club events for Spanish as a second language for their allies and Cafecito (coffee) Social Events for all of their members.

  • The Celebrating Cultures ERG celebrated United Nations International Day of Peace with a diverse panel of employee speakers sharing their perspectives on Fresenius Medical Care’s organizational DE&I journey and its impact on our employees.

  • The Native American and Indigenous Peoples’ ERG held their kickoff event where the Waianae Coast Nanakuli Dialysis Center’s Hawaiian blessing ceremony was shared.

  • The Grassroots Employee Environmental Network (GREEN) ERG continues to promote the Mircera Reusable Packaging Program through which product shipping containers that are sent to dialysis centers are now emptied, returned, cleaned, and put back into use, thereby reducing the amount of solid landfill waste produced by centers.
